Lishui in East China's Zhejiang province announced an urban design competition on May 20, inviting designers from all over the world to create an urban development blueprint for the city.

The competition, called "Future Shanshui City • Dwellings in Lishui Mountains", is co-organized by Lishui Municipal People's Government, Lishui Municipal Development and Reform Commission and the Dwellings in Lishui Mountains Project Planning and Construction Leading Group Office.

The event has set the goal of methodically constructing a Shanshui (literally mountains and waters) city spatial framework to set a model image for city typology, create a new Shanshui city lifestyle and explore contemporary, sustainable urban planning strategies.

Lishui will provide 8.8 million yuan ($1.23 million) in prizes for excellent designers, among which the first, second and third prize winners will receive three million yuan, 1.5 million yuan and 800,000 yuan respectively.
