A rural mobile hospital system in Lishui city was nominated recently as one of 2019's "10 influential events" in health in Zhejiang province.

To fully implement the strategy of rural revitalization and solve the problem of seeing a doctor for people in remote mountainous areas, Lishui created a rural mobile hospital.

Last year, 16 touring diagnosis and treatment vehicles (mobile hospitals) were deployed throughout the city, covering nine counties (county-level cities and districts), and were regularly assigned to villages, including 1,160 remote and small villages that did not have village clinics. These mobile hospitals carried out diagnosis and treatment, public health matters, contract services and door-to-door delivery of medicines.

The mobile hospitals have not only been well received by Lishui people, but also people in Xinhe county in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region.

Based on the local situation and experience in Lishui, the city's medical team took to Xinjiang integrated diagnosis and treatment, purchase of medicines, medical insurance reimbursement and other aspects, and brought the mobile hospital system to Xinhe county.

By the end of December 2019, the city's mobile hospitals had made visits to 2,708 villages, dispatched 7,306 medical personnel, served 103,905 people, and helped reduce villagers' medical expenses by 2.07 million yuan ($300,422).
