Mushrooms are one of the three leading industries in Yuyan town, Songyang county, Lishui, Zhejiang province, with an annual output of over 40 million kilograms of fresh mushrooms.

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, 2020 export sales of Yuyan mushrooms have been blocked. The sudden decline in market demand, coupled with the collapse of orders from schools and factories, came as a big shock to mushroom farmers.

According to officials in Yuyan, mushrooms are one of the main sources of income for people in Yuyan, so they expanded the sales by transforming export sales to domestic sales, and single channel domestic sales to multi-channel domestic sales.

At the same time, through WeChat, Douyin and other online platforms, the county helped local mushroom farmers promote their products and minimize the impact of the outbreak.

"We have expanded our sales through the combination of online and offline, and our output value in March reached more than one million yuan ($141,543). We expect to double our output value in April," said Ye Zhuhuo who runs an agricultural and sideline products company in Yuyan town.
