Liandu district in Lishui, East China's Zhejiang province, recently introduced an "intelligent electricity" system to help local enterprises manage their electricity use, local media reported on April 27.

"Intelligent electricity" refers to using communication technology to get full access to power distribution equipment status, real-time energy, environmental monitoring, security monitoring, video monitoring, equipment ledgers and other data, thus achieving comprehensive monitoring of companies' energy use.

"In the past, enterprises only knew their overall electricity consumption through bills, and paid little attention to the rationality of energy conservation and power consumption plans," said Zan Xinxiang, an official of Wanyang Low-carbon Smart Manufacturing Town.

"The 'intelligent electricity' system can save an enterprise at least thousands of yuan in electricity costs every month."

Wanyang Low-carbon Smart Manufacturing Town is the powerhouse of Liandu's economy. Covering 295 hectares, it is a featured industrial town integrating intelligent research and development, e-commerce, warehousing and logistics, financial services, intelligent park management, and production and living facilities, with an annual output value of over 10 billion yuan ($1.41 billion).

Up to now, the power supply company in Liandu has completed equipment installation, operation debugging and platform application work for 20 contracted customers. In the next step, the company will also select target customers according to the characteristics of each industry, and customize the service for each enterprise.
