Longquan helps Zhaohua in digital economy

Since the start of east-west collaboration in poverty alleviation, Longquan, a county-level city in Lishui, Zhejiang province, has made great efforts to help Zhaohua district in Guangyuan, Sichuan province, overcome poverty.

Over the past three years, with the help of Longquan, more than 50,000 people in Zhaohua have received e-commerce training, more than 2,500 agriculture-related e-commerce enterprises have been cultivated, more than 600 online stores have opened, and more than 16,000 jobs have been created in the area.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, some agricultural products in Zhaohua are facing short-term sales problems. In response, the district is leveraging every aspect of its e-commerce chain to turn adversity into opportunity.

In the first half of this year, Zhaohua's e-commerce retail sales exceeded 40 million yuan ($5.78 million), up 10 percent year-on-year.

The rural e-commerce poverty alleviation efforts by Longquan and Zhaohua are among the national top 50 e-commerce targeted poverty alleviation cases.
