Qingyuan county, Westlake University forge partnership
Qingyuan county in Lishui – a prefecture-level city in East China's Zhejiang province – recently signed a memorandum of understanding with Westlake University, a private research-focused institution, with the goal of supporting its green development.
Under the agreement, the two sides will jointly expand their sci-tech cooperation, exchanging top-flight people and commercializing their high-tech achievements.
For its part, Westlake University will use of its scientific and technological resources and people to assist Qingyuan in building a high-level scientific and technological innovation platform.
It will also provide scientific and technological services for the commercialization of green products from Qingyuan, according to officials.
At the same time, the university will support recruitment of top people, the development of a post-doctoral workstation – as well as project research and development and strategic consulting for Qingyuan.
Westlake University was established two years ago in Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang, through a public-private funding initiative. Initially focusing on doctorate programs and cutting-edge research, the university has three schools – science, life sciences and engineering – as well as basic and applied research laboratories.
