National canoe/kayak championships kicks off in Lishui

The 2020 National Canoe/Kayak Flatwater Championships kicked off on Nov 10 at Nanming Lake in Lishui city, in East China's Zhejiang province, local media reported.

This competition, organized by the Chinese Canoe Association, is the highest-grade canoe/kayak flatwater competition this year in China. It is also the largest national professional sports event held in Lishui this year.

In addition to the national team, there are 22 local teams from all over the country. More than 600 athletes will compete in the men's and women's canoe/kayak 200 meter, 500 m and 1,000 m events.

The Lishui Water Sports Center was formally recognized as a China Canoe/Kayak Youth Training Base during the opening ceremony of the championships on Nov 10.

The event will last till Nov 14, according to organizers.
