World Celadon Conference to be held in Longquan

The 3rd World Celadon Conference is scheduled to run on Dec 10-12 in Longquan – a county-level city administered by Lishui city in East China's Zhejiang province – officials told a news conference held in Lishui on Nov 30.

Longquan celadon is a famous type of celadon-glazed porcelain made in the city. The celadon  produced by the Longquan kiln is outstanding for its translucent glaze, jade-like coating and exquisite shapes.

Officials said the event will consist of an opening ceremony, four sectors and 30 sub-activities, aiming to provide a cultural feast for participants from around the world.

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, nearly 20 artists and diplomatic envoys from 15 countries will participate in the event.

In addition, a special exhibition area for Longquan celadon will be set up in the China Cultural Center in Seoul, South Korea, during the event, according to officials. They said the traditional skills for crafting Longquan celadon is on China's national intangible cultural heritage list.
