In Yunhe, a small county with a rich history located in Lishui, in East China's Zhejiang province, there are many ancient roads, each with its own story and culture and the Chimei Ancient Road is one of them.
The Chimei Ancient Road links Chishi, an important wharf along Oujiang River in bygone days, with the mountain village of Meiyuan. It has been witness to Yunhe's history and many historical sites are to be found along the road.
The road is a favored outdoor trek for travelers, not only for its winding mountain path, but also for the flat spaces along the road that make ideal sites for camping. Tourists can even enjoy a nice meal at some of the cottages along the road.
Tips:
Hiking can be a strenuous activity, preferably led by a professional mountaineering team. Outdoor supplies such as face masks, rain gear, flashlight headlamps, sunscreen and hiking poles should be organized in advance.
