As China continues its moves to eliminate extreme poverty and become what is known as a "moderately prosperous society" in time for the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China on July 1, 2021, Lishui city in East China's Zhejiang province has dedicated itself to improving the lives of its residents, according to local officials.

Lishui was honored as the "2020 special contributor to China's goal of building a moderately prosperous society in an all-around way" at the 15th China comprehensive moderately prosperous forum held on Dec 26 in Zhongshan city in South China's Guangdong province.

Lishui has been keenly developing ecological products for many years and the city has achieved a synergistic mix of green and urban development.

Lishui has also established a number of regional public brands – Lishui Shangeng for agricultural products, Lishui Shanju for homestays and Lishui Shanjing for scenic spots – to promote the high-quality green development of the city's rural industries.

Since 2009, the per capita income growth of Lishui farmers has ranked first in the province for 11 consecutive years. In the first three quarters of this year, the per capita disposable income of the city's permanent rural residents was 17,860 yuan ($2,735), up by 7.1 percent year-on-year, ranking first in the province.
