Every year before Spring Festival, people in Lishui get busy drying out the sausages, fish, sauced duck and sauced pork. In order to prevent food from spoiling, sun-drying has become the best way to store food in winter.

Huangmiguo, or yellow rice cake, is popular in southwest Zhejiang province and it originated in Songyang county in Lishui. The yellow rice cake has a refreshing and soft taste. If fried with preserved meat, vegetables and winter bamboo shoots until they turn yellow, the rice cake becomes even tastier.
