Lishui in East China's Zhejiang province recently rolled out a series of measures to encourage successful entrepreneurial locals who went abroad to return to launch businesses in the prefecture-level city and a news conference explaining the initiative was held on Feb 25.

Under the initiative, particularly outstanding returnees in the advanced manufacturing technology, for instance, can qualify for grants from the municipality of up to 10 million yuan ($1.55 million).

The policy is applicable to research and development institutions that introduce core technologies and come equipped with core R&D teams, as well as manufacturing investment intermediaries that successfully introduce investment from overseas Chinese.

According to the measures, Lishui will provide credit guarantees to import agencies, as well as streamlined registration procedures for cross-border e-commerce enterprises.

In addition, the city is providing education and training, pension insurance and other assistance to create a better environment to encourage its overseas Chinese to return.
