The 14th China (International) Tea Merchants Convention was held in Songyang county, Lihui city, East China's Zhejiang province, on March 28 as an effort to promote its "Songxiang scented tea" regional brand.

"Songyang county has been planting tea since the Three Kingdoms (220-280) period and currently has 137,000 mu (9133.3 hectares) of tea plantations," said Lu Dingfang, deputy head of Songyang, during a livestream on Taobao, an online shopping platform in China.

Wei Ya, a top-selling livestream host, was invited to anchor a broadcast in Songyang, during which she presented "Songxiang scented tea" to her audience of 2.7 million people, and 5,000 pieces of the product sold out within one second.

In addition, more than 100 livestream hosts with disabilities were invited to promote Songyang-grown tea at the event, generating 410,000 yuan ($63,000) in tea product sales.
