Reading books, watching documentaries, tuning in to app-based programs – these days 91 million members of the Communist Party of China, also known as the CPC, are avidly diving into their Party's history.

These are the sorts of scenes springing up from an educational campaign launched by the Party leadership, as part of rolling events to mark the CPC's centenary in 2021.

Lishui city – located in East China's Zhejiang province – has come up with a whole host of novel and new ways for its Party members to become immersed in the past.

Led by Hu Haifeng, Party secretary of Lishui, members of the Standing Committee of the CPC Lishui Municipal Committee visited the Dachen Island and Yijiangshan Island battle sites in Zhejiang's Taizhou city on April 14, to get an insight into the inspiring spirit of the older-generation revolutionaries.

"From the mountainous areas in southwest of Zhejiang province to the coasts of the East China Sea, the study of the Party history in Lishui has entered a new era, connecting the red spirit of Lishui and Taizhou," Hu said.

Lishui is the birthplace of the revolutionary spirit of south-western Zhejiang. Using its rich red cultural resources, the city has carried out a slew of activities on studying the Party's history. Now there are plans for more than 10,000 talks on its history to be held across the city for the CPC's centenary year.

Looking into the past gives people a handle on dealing with the issues of today and better prepares them for the future. Party history studies are now guiding Lishui to further improve its already prosperous society, to better benefit its people.

At present, taking common prosperity as the goal, Lishui is making every effort to increase people's incomes and narrow income gaps.
