As one of the major construction projects for East China's Zhejiang province in the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25) – the new high-speed rail line between the capital city of Hangzhou and the prefecture-level city of Lishui – is reported to have recently seen progress in its preliminary work.
The Hangzhou-Lishui high-speed line, with a total investment of 13.1 billion yuan ($2.05 billion), will shorten the journey to less than an hour. At present, it takes at least 1 hour and 15 minutes to travel between the two cities.
The new railway is regarded as being of great importance to Lishui, for it to better adapt to the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta region. It is expected to bring enormous opportunities for the economic development of the city.
The new line is part of a railway running from Lishui to Fuzhou city, capital of East China's Fujian province, that will be built in the future.
