A charity canteen for local left-behind senior citizens opened on July 16 at Lianhu village, Yingchuan town – in Jingning She autonomous county, in East China's Zhejiang province.
The 48 senior villagers that are over the age of 60 can enjoy three meals a day in the canteen by paying only 3 yuan (46 cents) per day or submitting the equivalent home-grown ingredients.
Jingning, one of the 26 counties in Zhejiang to accelerate its development, has been carrying out practical measures to better serve its people since the start of the year. It has been focusing on solving the problems for the left-behind elderly folk in the mountainous areas.
In order to provide more convenient and warm services for them, Jingning has built such charity canteens in four villages, benefiting 208 left-behind senior citizens in total.
