This year marks the 11th year since East China's Zhejiang province started to extend economic assistance to Northwest China's Qinghai province in June 2010, following the central government's instructions.

Over the past 11 years, Zhejiang authorities have dispatched 162 government cadres to work in Qinghai, as well as earmarked 2.06 billion yuan ($317.6 million) to sponsor 370 projects that bolster Qinghai's socioeconomic development.

On May 25, Zhejiang authorities were informed by their cadres in Qinghai that around 2,000 primary school students in Madoi county were attending schools in makeshift tents as the county had just been affected by a 7.4 magnitude earthquake.

Several days later, about 4,000 down jackets, cotton-padded clothes, sweaters, and other warm clothing, worth about 1.03 million yuan, were sent to Madoi. On May 30, 3 million yuan worth of cold protection materials donated by Zhejiang enterprises were all handed to more than 2,700 students in Madoi.

Over the past three years, Zhejiang authorities have invested 67 million yuan in an ecological restoration project in Qinghai's highland desert and alkaline land, with more than 600,000 planted trees and 2.3 square kilometers of afforestation.

This year, Zhejiang authorities proposed 10 projects targeting the improvement of local social welfare, spanning the expansion of sales channels for agriculture products, the improvement of educational facilities, the promotion of tourism resources, support for entrepreneurship, the recruitment of investors, digitization reform, as well as the introduction of high-profile talents.
