In the wake of the earthquake measuring 6.0 on the Richter scale which on Sept 16 jolted Luxian county – administered by the city of Luzhou in Southwest China's Sichuan province – Lishui city was reportedly quick to lend a helping hand.

The city, in East China's Zhejiang province, immediately raised funds and materials and dispatched personnel to help the people in the disaster area resume production and rebuild their homes.

The Lishui municipal government raised a total of 3 million yuan ($463,935) for Luxian and the Nice Group – a Lishui-based domestic cleaning product manufacturer – donated 2 million yuan's worth of disinfection and sterilization products to the county.

Lishui is Luzhou's pairing city in the poverty alleviation cooperation project between East and West China. As such, it has devoted a lot of effort to the development of Luzhou.
