Zhejiang unveils action plans to promote household garbage sorting

Zhejiang recently unveiled an action plan to facilitate the upgrading of household garbage transfer stations in the province.

The plan was released by the Zhejiang Household Garbage Sorting Leading Group Office, the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Ecology and Environment and the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.

According to the plan, the province aims to complete the upgrading of all large and medium-sized transfer stations by the end of 2022.

By the end of 2023, more than a half of the transfer stations will be upgraded. All the stations in the province will be upgraded by the end of 2025.

As of July, there were a total of 1,298 household garbage transfer stations waiting to be upgraded, including 159 in Hangzhou, 194 in Ningbo, 240 in Wenzhou and 108 in Jiaxing.

According to the plan, the upgrading of 155 transfer stations will be completed by the end of this year.

In addition, efforts will be made to optimize the layout of these transfer stations and build a sound household garbage collection and transfer system.
