World Celadon Conference to kick off in Longquan city

The fourth World Celadon Conference is scheduled to be held on Oct 28-30 in Longquan – a county-level city administered by Lishui city in East China's Zhejiang province – local media reported.
Local officials said that through its 28 activities, the annual event will showcase the pivotal history and role in cultural exchanges involving Longquan celadon ceramics.
Longquan is a famous historical city producing Chinese ceramics. In the 12th to 15th centuries, Longquan celadon ceramics became the main export products of the Maritime Silk Road and captivated the world with their magnificent greenish tint.
In 2009, the traditional firing technology sued for Longquan celadon ceramics was inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, making it the first and only ceramics in the world to be selected.
Officials said that diplomatic envoys from embassies – as well as the leaders of the cultural centers of Turkey, Malaysia, Japan and other countries in China – will participate in the event.
