In Zhejiang, homestay brand gains popularity

A set of standards for homestays launched by overseas Chinese people returning to the country were unveiled recently in Wenzhou, Zhejiang province.
The standards stipulate the terms and definitions of qiaojiale homestays, including signs, basic conditions for grade evaluation, overall requirements, applications and assessments.
They aim to further promote qiaojiale as a new model for rural vitalization and high-quality development, create a micro tourism destination shared by both tourists and homestay owners, unleash cultural and tourism consumption and help promote Wenzhou as an international leisure and vacation tourism city.
Such homestays are expected to become innovative leisure micro tourism destinations, relying on the resources Wenzhou in light of changes in the cultural tourism market and the new trend of iterative upgrades of rural homestays, said Hu Jianjin, director of the city's publicity department.
"We hope our homestay brand can further contribute to a beautiful countryside full of happiness, accelerate the integration of cultural and tourism development, pioneer the achievement of common prosperity in Wenzhou and help popularize Wenzhou's cultural tourism brand known as a poetic wonderland," Hu said.
The logo of the qiaojiale brand , which was created based on the Chinese character qiao, meaning overseas Chinese, was released, along with a list of the first 30 Wenzhou qiaojiale brand homestays.
As early as 2015, the country's first local standards and norms for homestays were officially released by the Deqing county tourism committee, the Zhejiang Institute of Standardization and other three institutions.
With nearly 700,000 Wenzhou people now dispersed in 131 countries and regions, Wenzhou has taken the initiative to develop a global cultural exchange and communications network in recent years.
