An opening ceremony was held on Nov 6 for the Lishui International Handmade Photography Center – located in Lishui city, in East China's Zhejiang province – celebrating the establishment of the second of the only two classical craft photography centers in the world, in addition to the facility in Paris.

The newly established center in Lishui will cover more than 150 kinds of classical photography crafts. It will include a teaching center and a laboratory with a constant temperature, humidity and ventilation. There will also be a teaching exchange area, an office and a residential facility for artists.

Nearly 30 photographic classical craft artists and scholars from home and abroad witnessed the ceremony online through a video link.

In addition, letters of appointment were awarded to 22 principal consultants and consultants of the Lishui International Handmade Photography Center.

With a total investment of over 4 billion yuan ($625 million), Lishui is constructing an international digital image center, in which the Lishui International Handmade Photography Center will be located.

In the future, teams of consultants, expert think tank members, photographers and artists will be regularly invited to carry out on-site and online lectures. Workshops and classes are expected to be held both at the facility and online.
