Zhejiang sees 34% growth in foreign trade in 2 years

East China's Zhejiang province reported 4.14 trillion yuan ($652.9 billion) in foreign trade in 2021, a 22.4 percent increase over 2020, according to statistics released by Hangzhou Customs on Jan 19.

In 2019, Zhejiang's foreign trade stood at 3.08 trillion yuan.

The number of Zhejiang-based enterprises that imported or exported goods in 2021 was above 90,000, up 6,388 from the year before.

Zhejiang's top three trade partners in 2021 were the European Union (675.41 billion yuan in trade), the United States (619.45 billion yuan), and the ASEAN (541.23 billion yuan).

Exported machinery and electronics from Zhejiang in 2021 were valued at 1.45 trillion yuan, making up 48.5 percent of the total value of its exports.

The total value of imports into Zhejiang hit one trillion yuan for the first time in 2021, up 30.3 percent from the year before.
