Authorities in East China's Zhejiang province recently released an action plan to further improve soil health and maintain soil ecology.

According to the action plan, the average quality of arable farmland will exceed 3.6 by the end of 2025. In China, farmlands are ranked on a scale of 10, with 1 being the highest. Grades 1 to 3 are generally considered "high grade."

Meanwhile, the proportion of high-grade cultivated farmland in the province will be more than 55 percent by 2025.

Zhejiang has since 2021 been providing services for farmers through an online platform. At present, more than 80 percent of counties and cities with an agricultural industry in the province have been connected to the platform. All of counties and cities will be connected to the platform by the end of 2022.

The action plan also stipulates the implementation of five provincial pilot projects to explore acidified soil treatment technologies and carry out pilot cultivation of healthy soil bases in 26 mountainous counties.
