In Songyang county – administered by Lishui city in East China's Zhejiang province – there is a 3,000-square-meter garden. In this garden, there are lawns, water features, as well as more than 1,000 varieties and nearly 20,000 plants, which bloom all the year round.

Ms. Ye, the owner, is a native of Songyang. She's been fond of flowers since childhood and her dream was always to have a big garden of her own.

In 2018, Ye sold her house in Beijing and bought an old house in her hometown to fulfill her childhood dream. The house, with a 2,600-sq-m garden, cost her nearly 11 million yuan ($1.65 million) to buy and renovate.

"Such a big garden is also expensive. It costs about 200,000 yuan a year to maintain," she admitted. Her childhood dream came true, but her savings ran out.

To keep the garden going, Ye turned the seven empty rooms of the house into homestays and started reinvesting the money she earned into the garden's maintenance.

Now Ye's garden has become a hotspot on the internet and a celebrated gathering place for parties, birthdays, marriage ceremonies and other special events.
