Zhejiang Jinray Electronic Technology Co Ltd – located in Lishui city in East China's Zhejiang province – is a raw materials producer for the semiconductors industry that is thriving in the metropolis.

Zhang Feng is the founder and chairman of the company. He graduated from the Shanghai Institute of Metallurgy at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, which is now the Shanghai Institute of Microsystem and Information Technology at CAS.

For Zhang, who has been engaged in scientific research for a long time, starting a business was always the dream.

Around 2020, he visited many places in China and learned that the Lishui Economic and Technological Development Zone had formed a complete semiconductor industry development pattern. Moreover, the zone's efficient and thorough services impressed him.

In September 2020, Zhang decided to build an epitaxial wafers plant there and in November work began on construction. By May this year, Jinray Electronic Technology had invested nearly 600 million ($88.8 million) yuan in the Lishui zone.

In recent years, due to the rapid development of the global electronics vehicles market, the demand for chips has soared.

Since the start of this year, the production capacity of monocrystalline silicon epitaxial wafers by Jinray has hit 200,000 units per month, while the number of the company's business partners has reached nearly 60.

Zhang has estimated that his company's sales this year will top 300 million yuan.
