A special Huangdi worship ceremony was held in Jinyun county – administered by Lishui city in East China's Zhejiang province – on Nov 7-8.

More than 100 Taiwan students attending Zhejiang's universities, young people from Taiwan who work and start businesses in Zhejiang and youth representatives from Jinyun attended the ceremony.

Huangdi, also known as the Yellow Emperor, was a mythological-historical figure believed to have been sovereign of a united China around 5,000 years ago.

Legend has it that Huangdi crowned his life in Dinghu Peak, located in Jinyun, by riding a dragon to heaven. Jinyun is the only county in China named after Huangdi. Jinyun's tradition of hosting the Huangdi worship ritual dates back 1,600 years.

During the two-day event, participants went to places such as the Cross-Straits Exchange Base of Jinyun Xiandu Scenic Spot, the Jinyun science and technology agricultural demonstration base of Zhejiang University and Yanmen village – to appreciate the extensive and profound traditional culture, as well as experience the vigor and vitality of Jinyun's rural revitalization.

"This is my first visit to Lishui. The local people are very enthusiastic," said a student from Taiwan who is studying at Hangzhou Dianzi University.

"I can feel the enthusiasm of Jinyun youth for life and study," the Taiwan student added.
