The first edition of the activity themed "Tea industry aids rural revitalization" was held in Lishui Library, East China's Zhejiang province on Nov 18.

The activity aims to promote the tea industry and tea culture in Lishui and showcase the significance of the industry in driving Lishui's rural revitalization.

The history of tea production in Lishui dates back nearly 2,000 years to the Three Kingdoms Period (220-280).

Since 2000, Lishui authorities have focused on upgrading the industrial chain of the tea industry.

By the end of 2021, tea plantations in Lishui covered 608,000 mu (40,533 hectares) and had an annual output of 47,000 metric tons, the highest in Zhejiang province.

There are currently more than 300,000 people working in the tea industry in Lishui.

At present, the value of the tea industrial chain in the city is 15 billion yuan ($2.09 billion), making it the leading agriculture industry and a main driving force behind rural revitalization.

In addition, the Lishui Wild Mountain Black Tea, a new brand of wild mountain tea, was released during the activity.

The wild mountain tea comes from tea trees that grow in wild mountains or without human intervention for more than 10 years.

Lishui has 3,573 mountains that are located more than 1,000 meters above sea level. Such altitudes make them excellent growing environments for wild mountain tea.

Today, the wild mountain tea trees are mainly found in the mountains in Longquan, a county-level city administered by Lishui, Qingyuan county and Suichang county.

To date, Qingyuan has developed over 3,000 mu of wild mountain tea trees and established more than 10 brands related to them.

A series of tea tasting activities were organized in the library following the debut of the tea brands.
