Business returns to malls, markets

Business is booming at shopping malls, supermarkets and vegetable markets in Lishui, Zhejiang province, local media reported on Jan 3.

Many people have now recovered after the first wave of COVID, the result of adjustments to China's epidemic prevention and control policy.

At Intime City, a shipping mas, the restaurants on the third floor were inundates with customers, with many people waiting in line.

At Fuqian vegetable market, people are flocking in to buy vegetables and meat. Li, who bought snacks for her children, said "Today is the first day of 2023. I am taking my kids to feel the lively atmosphere."

At MT Xinxili Supermarket, many people were filling their carts. Zhang, who was shopping for fruit, said she wants more vitamin C for her family to increase their disease resistance."

An employee at the supermarket said they currently have an average of 3,000 customers a day.

COVID-19 infections in Zhejiang province have peaked, the Zhejiang Center for Disease Control and Prevention said on Monday.

To mitigate health risks, the Zhejiang CDC has asked residents to pay special attention to strengthening personal protection, enhancing physical health, vaccinating themselves and carrying out proper self-health monitoring.
