The city of Lishui – in East China's Zhejiang province – recently achieved national recognition when it was included on a list, issued by the Ministry of Transport of China and the National Development and Reform Commission, of 97 cities that are top of their game in so-called green travel.
The national green travel campaign was launched in 2020 to advocate a green and low-carbon lifestyle and to encourage the public to choose public transport and other green travel modes.
Over the past three years, Lishui has comprehensively improved its green travel infrastructure, including the construction of the Yaxi and Bihu bus stations, 18 new electrical bus charging piles, 17 new urban roads and 55.31 kilometers of new urban greenways. The coverage of its bus stations, at every 500 meters, has reached 98.07 percent.
At the same time, the city has achieved full coverage of mobile payments on all its bus lines. In addition, Lishui's bus card can now be used in more than 300 cities across the country.
What's more, a total of 6,550 sharing bicycles and 195 rental points have been distributed across Lishui in the past three years.
As a result, Lishui locals are now said to be much more willing to take public transportation.
