The China National Intellectual Property Administration recently issued a much-prized collective trademark registration certificate for Lishui Weidao, or Lishui Taste, which was submitted by Lishui city in East China's Zhejiang province.

Lishui Weidao is a regional public brand for the local food of Lishui. The thousand-year history of Lishui has seen countless wonderful dishes emerge, such as Jinyun bucket baked rolls, Suichang rice dumplings and other delicacies that reflect folk customs and traditional culture.

"By creating the regional public brand, we hope to form a collective image of a city, so as to further improve the soft power of rural culture, boost the development of rural industries and help farmers to increase their incomes," said an official from the city's agriculture and rural affairs bureau.

In recent years, in order to fully tap the local authentic Lishui taste, the city has held four creative food competitions.

With it successfully being registered, all associated industries in Lishui can now apply to the agriculture and rural affairs bureau for authorization to use the trademark.

The popularity and influence of characteristic Lishui food and its ingredients is expected to be boosted with the help of the development.
