Wu Fiefei, head of the culture, radio, television, tourism and sports bureau of Lishui city – in East China's Zhejiang province – made an appearance at the "director's channel" at the third session of the Fifth Lishui Municipal People's Congress on Feb 26.

There, she highlighted the success of Lishui's tourism market during the recent Chinese New Year's celebrations.

According to Wu, the recovery of market demand reflects the continuous efforts made by the municipal government in promoting the cultural and tourism industry, as well as the confidence of market players.

Wu emphasized that the entire cultural and tourism system in the city would focus on three areas moving forwards, which would lead to significant changes in the industry.

The first area is attracting large-scale theme parks and accelerating the arrival of key projects, such as the Yangshang air sports and health resort. In 2023, the city plans to bring in 172 key cultural and tourism projects, with a total investment of about 17.7 billion yuan ($2.55 billion).

The second area is supporting and guiding the comprehensive transformation of the sector. The city aims to provide a more immersive and enriching experience for tourists, while improving services and encouraging repeat visits.

Finally, Wu stated that the city would promote the cultural and tourism industry in a more engaging manner. The plan is to select 1,000 cultural and tourism ambassadors from all walks of life. By learning to sell its culture, the city aims to make tourism more interesting and accessible for tourists.

The proposed measures are said to be a testament to the city's commitment to promoting economic growth through the development of its cultural and tourism industry.

With the implementation of these measures, Lishui hopes to attract more tourists and become a more dynamic and popular tourism destination.
