The Hubei Provincial Museum – located in Wuhan, capital of Central China's Hubei province – attracted hordes of visitors to the launch of the Tianxia Longquan – Longquan Celadon and Sword Inheritance and Innovation Exhibition on Feb 28.

The expo showcases over 200 ancient and modern celadon pieces and swords from Longquan, the county-level city administered by Lishui city in East China's Zhejiang province. The event was jointly organized by the Hubei Provincial Museum, Shaanxi History Museum and the Longquan government.

According to organizers, the exhibition aims to help promote and pass on to future generations traditional Chinese culture – and enable more people to experience and know about China's rich ceramics and sword cultures.

Originating during the Western Jin Dynasty (265-316), the renowned Longquan celadon ceramics came to the fore in the Northern Song Dynasty (960-1127). Glazed with wonderful green or yellow hues, pieces of that time feature delicate textures and fine ceramic layers.

The Longquan sword, named after its birthplace in Longquan, played a significant role in the development of Chinese and global weaponry. The first crafting of the sword can be traced back to the Spring and Autumn Period (770-476 BC).

The exhibition, which runs to May 3, is expected to leave a lasting impression on visitors, taking them on a journey of discovery through the richness of China's cultural heritage.
