Over the past two decades, East China's Zhejiang province has witnessed a raft of major changes in its rural areas, thanks to the implementation of a province-wide villages renovation project.

The project has injected vitality and charm into villages, which now offer visitors such things as aromatic coffee, delicious food, cozy homestays and picturesque scenery.

In Xiaozhoushan village in Qingtian county – administered by Zhejiang's Lishui city – a glass-walled cafe stands on the edge of a cliff overlooking the terraced fields. The cafe is called Terrace Watcher and it boasts a unique architectural design that blends in with the landscape.

The cafe covers an area of more than 1,000 square meters, spread over three floors. It incorporates elements of terraces and countryside in its design and offers a wide range of facilities for drinking coffee, dining, reading, leisure and entertainment.

In the springtime, tourists flock there to enjoy the breeze, the countryside fragrances, the books and the unique taste of the terrace coffee from the mountain village.

"In this cafe, I can drink coffee, listen to music and even take a terrace train to see the view," said Lin, a tourist from Wenzhou.

"It's very comfortable and relaxing. I completely forget that I'm in a small mountain village," Lin added.
