Mighty Lishui city marathon attracts over 15,000 runners

The streets of Lishui city – located in East China's Zhejiang province – resounded with myriads of rapid footfalls, as the 2023 Lishui Marathon was staged on March 26, attracting more than 15,000 runners from home and abroad.

Among the participants – including 15 participants from South Korea, Brazil, Australia and the US – 2,000 folks ran the full marathon stretching 42.195 kilometers, while 5,000 ran the half marathon.

They were joined by 3,000 who took the 10 km health run and 5,000 who joined in the 5 km fun run and family run.

The route of the marathon highlighted Lishui's wonderful natural environment, connecting the greenways on both sides of the Oujiang River and Nanming Lake.

The event was carefully organized and secured, with five national referees, 10 provincial referees and 140 professional referees. It also deployed 3,000 security personnel and organized 1,806 volunteers.

There were 758 medical staff, two emergency command vehicles, 22 ambulances and 24 medical stations were erected along the route. They were equipped with 73 AEDs (automated external defibrillators) and other emergency rescue equipment and medicine.

The event also set up a 5G command center on site. Through the internet of things and big data technology, it visually tracked and protected the participants, controlled the event management and was in overall command.
