The number of containers handled by the sea-rail intermodal transport service between Lishui city in East China's Zhejiang province and Zhoushan Port in the province's Ningbo city has topped 50,000 twenty-foot equivalent units, or TEUs – the standard container size.

That's the cumulative total since the service was introduced in 2019. The milestone was reached recently, when a container truck loaded with exports drove into Lishui Station from the Jinhua-Wenzhou Railway.

Under the framework of mountain-sea cooperation with Ningbo, Lishui leveraged the resources of Ningbo's Zhoushan Port to launch the export container sea-rail intermodal transport service.

Through the sea-rail channel, the functions of Zhoushan Port are being extended to Lishui, which formed a dry port in the city.

Lishui's dry port is widely said to have achieved considerable progress after several years of operations. It has innovated the multimodal transport logistics mode and extended the business functions of the seaport to combine with local industries and resources.

At the same time, the sea-rail intermodal transport is known to reduce carbon emissions, which promotes peak carbon and carbon neutrality in Lishui's transportation and logistics.
