A set of tourism souvenirs from Jinyun county – administered by Lishui city in East China's Zhejiang province – won the gold award in the artistic derivative category, at a provincial cultural and creative product contest recently.

The contest, which was organized by the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, received thousands of cultural and creative products from 11 cities in Zhejiang.

After an on-site display and expert evaluation, 10 gold, 10 silver and 10 bronze awards were given to each of the three categories – tourism souvenirs, decorative ornaments and artistic derivatives.

The tourism souvenirs from Jinyun featured the color jinyun as the main tone. Jinyun is a traditional Chinese color which is fire red.

The souvenirs use traditional tie-dyeing techniques and natural plant materials to dye different shades of jinyun color on fashionable products such as sweatshirts, T-shirts, hats, bags and dolls.

Jinyun county has developed more than 100 kinds of tourism cultural and creative products, which have won many awards in national and provincial contests, according to officials.

The county plans to further explore its local cultural connotations and release more top-flight tourism products.
