The modern Yueju Opera Lyu Shui Qing Shan, or Lucid Waters and Lush Mountains premiered at the National Theatre of China in Beijing on April 8. The 140-minute performance told the audience about the picturesque city of Lishui in East China's Zhejiang province.

The play was co-produced by the publicity department of the Lishui Municipal Party Committee and the Zhejiang Xiaobaihua Yueju Opera Theater, and was performed by the Zhejiang Yueju Opera Troupe.

The plot is centered on China's ecological and environmental policy, which revolves around the concept that lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets. It combined Lishui's efforts in achieving the goal with artistic expressions.

The play takes the fate of a family as the starting point, reflects the social realities from that perspective and depicts the life changes of ordinary people, their feelings and beliefs.

The production has adopted multi-media and intelligent functionality into its staging and combined a large number of Lishui elements including its beautiful scenery, delicious food and traditional dance into the props, costumes and stage design.

Since its inception, the play has received attention from various departments including the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. It has been selected for various projects such as the Ministry of Culture and Tourism's New Era Realistic Theme Creation Project and the 2022 Script Support Project.
