Jinyun county – located in Lishui city in East China's Zhejiang Province – boasts fairyland-like scenery and rich cultural heritage.

To share the beauty of his hometown with more people, Zhu Guomao, a local painter and calligrapher, spent a year creating a masterpiece ink painting of Jinyun.

The painting is a 21-meter-long scroll that depicts 29 scenic spots of Jinyun in a traditional Chinese style. It features the peaks and rocks of Xiandu, the ancient dwellings of Heyang, the mysterious scenery of Dayang Mountain and other evocative attractions.

The painting is mainly in ink with some colors added.

Zhu started the creative process by visiting various places in Jinyun beginning in March last year, collecting sketches, photos and materials. He began to work on the basic composition in September and finished the scroll by January. He first painted each scene on a 50-80 square centimeter sheet of paper, before combining them into a coherent whole.

Zhu is a senior craftsman and artist who has learned painting and calligraphy from Professor Yan Bo at the China Academy of Art. He has been painting for 50 years and has been invited as a guest painter to several cultural and artistic institutions at home and abroad. His works have been collected by many museums and exhibitions.
