Freshippo Villages, which produce agricultural products to serve the needs of all the outlets of Freshippo – Alibaba Group's supermarket chain for groceries and fresh goods – have been constructed throughout China.

Lishui city in East China's Zhejiang province recently welcomed its first Freshippo Village, located in Zhouan village in Songyang county.

Zhouan lies to the southeast of Songyang, more than 70 kilometers away from the county seat, at an altitude of 1,030 meters. It has abundant rainfall, distinct seasons, a long frost-free period and large temperature differences between day and night.

The tomatoes, beans, rice, mushrooms, tea and other agricultural products produced there taste great and look fine, making them clear favorites with customers.

According to preliminary statistics, in 2022 tomato growers in Zhouan village increased their income by 70,000 yuan ($10,155) per household, while the village collective increased its income by more than 82,000 yuan.

"Zhouan's tomatoes are high-quality and delicious. They sold out in a few days after they were put on Freshippo's shelves," said Luo Yun, deputy general manager of Freshippo's Zhejiang region. Luo said that in 2022, Freshippo purchased more than 8.5 metric tons of tomatoes from Zhouan.

With the building of the Freshippo village, Songyang plans to cultivate a batch of star agricultural products and explore new paths to common prosperity for its residents.
