The culture and tourism department of Zhejiang province in East China recently announced the first batch of 87 workshops that protect and promote intangible cultural heritage (ICH).

Seven of them are from Lishui city.

ICH workshops are places where traditional crafts and skills are practiced and taught. They are also sources of employment for locals.

Lishui, the only pilot city in the province that uses ICH to boost common prosperity, has transformed several idle spaces and enterprises into ICH workshops and made the promotion of ICH more innovative.

Lishui's ICH workshops have also combined ICH with tourism to attract visitors. For example, the "Yuyue Brewing" workshop has set up a wine cellar display area and an ICH exhibition hall. Meanwhile, the "Yunhe Wooden Toys" workshop has integrated wooden toys with contemporary industries such as animation.
