Yunhe county in Lishui city, East China's Zhejiang province, announced a series of events to celebrate and protect the global terraced culture at a news conference on May 29.

The Yunhe terraced fields are over 1,000 years old and have three different types of landscapes: high mountains, hills and valleys. The fields also offer stunning views of clouds, streams, waterfalls and frost.

Yunhe has been committed to preserving and passing on the terraced culture, which involves the harmonious coexistence of humans and nature.

The county is the founder of the Global Alliance for Terraced Landscape Conservation and Development, a network of regions that share a common heritage of terraces.

To enhance cooperation and communication among members of the global alliance, Yunhe has planned several events for this year. The events include a summer ploughing festival, a camping and RV festival, a mountain tourism festival and a seminar on terraced fields' development.

The first event of the series, the 17th Yunhe Terraced Fields Ploughing Festival, will take place from June 9 to 11.
