The tourism industry in Qingyuan county, a mountainous region located in Lishui city in East China's Zhejiang province, has been given a boost by the scorching temperatures in other parts of the country.

According to the county's meteorology bureau, the average temperature in local tourist attractions such as Baishanzu National Park, Yueshan village, and Shuangmiaojian Mountain ranged from 23C to 26C since July. Such pleasant conditions have since been drawing large crowds of tourists from around the nation.

Shao Yongzhi, a visitor from Beijing, has been coming to Qingyuan to spend the summer for five consecutive years. Shao said that although there are many cool areas in Qingyuan, Baishanzu has the best water and air quality. He added that the weather has been so cool that he even needed a blanket when sleeping.

Homestays in Baishanzu National Park have unsurprisingly been difficult to book. Wu Xiaoying, the owner of the Baishan Renjia rural tourism resort, said that all guest rooms are fully booked until Aug 15.

Yueshan village, a provincial-level tourist resort, is another popular destination for tourists looking to escape the summer heat. According to Wu Xueping from Xi'antu Homestay, all homestays in Yueshan need to be booked in advance from July to September every year because of the large influx of tourists.

Statistics show that Baishanzu town and Jushui town – where Baishanzu National Park and Yueshan village are located respectively – received 18,000 and 6,000 visitors as of June this year.
