Austrian wines that will be exhibited at the upcoming 5th Overseas Chinese Import Expo in Qingtian county, Lishui, East China's Zhejiang province departed Austria on Aug 30.

The wines from over 20 famous wineries in Austria were stored in a temperature-controlled container in Burgenland, one of Austria's four top wine regions, before they were transported. The wines are expected to reach a bonded warehouse in Qingtian by late October.

The expo will take place from Nov 12 to 15.

Zhan Weiping, head of the Austria-China Enterprise Exchange Association and ambassador of the expo in Austria, said that the wines include red, white, noble rot and ice wines, and are made from grapes unique to Austria or widely grown elsewhere.

Zhan said that Austria was the guest country of honor at the 2nd Overseas Chinese Import Expo in 2019, and had impressed the visitors with its display of Austrian lifestyle and culture.

Zhan added that the Austrian pavilion will bring more surprises this year, such as a grand "Austrian Night" event, where winery owners will wear national costumes and perform.

Austria is a famous music capital and one of the best wine producers in the world. Its wines are known for their fruity aromas and sometimes moderate acidity.
