Lishui city welcomes over 2 million visitors during holiday

Lishui city – located in East China's Zhejiang province – experienced a surge in tourists during the eight-day holiday that celebrated the Mid-Autumn Festival and the National Day, which coincided with the Hangzhou Asian Games being held in the province.

According to the city's culture, radio, television, tourism and sports bureau, Lishui received 2.15 million tourists from Sept 30 to Oct 7, up 9.7 percent year-on-year and 24.1 percent from 2019 – ranking it second in the province.

To attract more visitors, the city's key hotels and scenic spots offered a "stay in a hotel, get a ticket" promotion, resulting in an average occupancy rate of 69.41 percent for key tourist hotels and revenue of 51.88 million yuan ($7.14 million).

The city's 25 key scenic spots above the 4A-level welcomed 957,700 tourists and generated revenue of 64.31 million yuan, up 53.23 percent and 191.29 percent respectively on last year. The stars were Jinyun Xiandu, the Yunhe Terraces and the Guyan Huaxiang scenic spots which accounted for one-third of the city's key scenic spot visitors.

The Asian Games – with Zhejiang's capital Hangzhou as the host city – also boosted the growth of sports spending in Lishui and "traveling with the Games" became a new trend. Many tourists flocked to Lishui's Suichang and Songyang counties for off-road driving, with 42,621 vehicles hitting the roads there during the holiday.

The Nanming Lake water sports experience boosted things in the central city area, attracting 5,523 participants to eight activities held in eight days.

What's more, the ultra-marathon track was turned into a leisure scenic route for parent-child travel during the break – with more than 10 activities such as camping and making kites allowing folks to enjoy leisurely family experiences.
