March 12 marks the 46th Tree Planting Day in China. Lishui, the largest prefecture-level city in terms of land area in Zhejiang province, is known for its lush green peaks, clear waters, and diverse wildlife, earning it the title of "Zhejiang's Green Valley".

Lishui boasts a forest coverage rate of 79.9 percent, ranking among the top in China. Its total forest resources have been at the forefront of the province for several consecutive years, with a forest stock volume reaching 116 million cubic meters.

For 20 consecutive years, Lishui has held the top position in Zhejiang in terms of its ecological environment index. It is home to two national forest cities, nine provincial forest cities, and 40 provincial forest towns.

Furthermore, the city features rich biodiversity, with 725 known species of wild vertebrates. It is also home to 54,210 existing ancient and famous trees.

The Abies beshanzuensis, a species of fir found in the Baishanzu National Park of Lishui, is known as a "living fossil of plants" and is one of the world's most endangered species, with only three wild mature trees remaining globally.
