Qingtian county in Lishui, Zhejiang province, renowned for its succulent waxberries, is witnessing a culinary revolution as local Western restaurants blend the fruit with Western cuisine, creating a unique gastronomic experience for diners.

At the Gioielli Restaurant in Qingtian, Chef Luigi from Milan, Italy, incorporates the distinct flavor of Dongkui waxberries into his creations. He uses a sauce made from the fruit's flesh to make waxberry cheesecakes and waxberry scallops.

"The fruit's tartness balances various cheeses in the cheesecake, offering a lighter and more refreshing dessert," explained Luigi. "The second dish marries the fruit's sour notes with the savory seafood flavors, resulting in a tantalizing taste that delights the palate."

In recent years, Gioielli Restaurant has been at the forefront of culinary innovation in Qingtian, staying true to traditional Italian cuisine while also integrating the county's agricultural treasures into its dishes.

The restaurant's range of innovative waxberry delicacies, such as waxberry toasts, mousses, and cookies, have won the hearts of consumers.

Owner Jia Xiaoyue emphasized the importance of blending Chinese and Western culinary traditions, "It not only surprises diners but also inspires our team to instill more vitality and creativity into Italian cuisine."
