The KS666 down-the-hole drilling rig and two technicians from Lishui, Zhejiang province, joining China's 41st Antarctic expedition team, embarked on a nearly seven-month scientific journey on Nov 1.

Choosing the KS666 drilling rig for this expedition signifies not only the first collaboration between the Polar Research Institute of China and Longquan manufacturing enterprises but also a strong endorsement of the quality and environmental performance of products from Zhejiang Koonsa Heavy Industry Machinery Co.

"The KS666 down-the-hole drilling rig from Koonsa Heavy Industry is stable and highly efficient, performing excellently even in extreme conditions. This was the main reason for our collaboration," said Peng Ankang, a project manager of China Construction Port and Navigation Bureau Group Co.

The KS666 is typically used for rock drilling in quarries, limestone mines, open-pit mines, and construction foundation excavation.

Liu Yunchang, vice general manager of Koonsa Heavy Industry, expressed immense pride in being selected for the Antarctic expedition. The company has mobilized its best team to tackle the project. Results from numerous tests simulating Antarctic conditions showed the KS666 down-the-hole drilling rig excelled in all performance metrics.

Koonsa Heavy Industry is Lishui's first enterprise focused on producing heavy machinery. Some of its products are on par with imported ones, achieving cost savings and efficiency improvements for customers.
