In the bustling workshops of Zhejiang Hongxing Stationery Company, based in Qingyuan county of East China's Zhejiang province and a leading enterprise in China's pencil industry, machines are roaring and workers are busy packing pencils into boxes.

The company recently secured a million-dollar order destined for Mexico. According to the company's technical manager Li Jing, the order marks the first time the company's newly developed spray-painting equipment will be used, significantly enhancing the painting quality of the pencils, which was a major factor in attracting the client.

Qingyuan, as China's main pencil production base, has a complete industrial chain in pencil manufacturing. Data released by the China Pen Making Association reveals that Qingyuan's pencil production accounts for approximately 40 percent of the national total.

To further expand the scope of the pencil industry, the Qingyuan county authorities have adopted measures in recent years to help enterprises break into the international market.

With a focus on innovation, Qingyuan's pencil enterprises are excelling in both quantity and quality markets. Companies like China Zhejiang Best Intenerated Pencil Wood Company in Qingyuan have also made strides in meeting international market standards through dedicated research and development efforts, securing partnerships with global pencil industry giants.

Qingyuan's efforts have resulted in a significant increase in pencil exports, with nearly 70 percent of pencils being shipped to over 100 countries and regions across Europe, America, Southeast Asia, and Africa, generating an export revenue of nearly 500 million yuan ($69 million).
