Qingyuan county has jurisdiction over three sub-districts, six towns and 19 townships.
Qingyuan has rich tourist resources with beautiful scenery and a pleasant climate. In January 2008, the county was named "the township of Chinese lounge bridges" by the Chinese Folk Literature and Art Association for having the largest number and achieving the best preservation of wooden arcade bridges. The national AAAA level tourist scenic spots – Baishanzu, the national forest park, Jinzifeng Mountain, Daji Jinshi village, the famous Chinese historical and cultural village, the Jushui Yushan characteristic landscape tourism village, the China mushroom museum and the lounge bridge museum – are all outstanding places for sightseeing in Qingyuan.
In 2024, Qingyuan has achieved a regional GDP of 11.442 billion yuan ($1.59 billion). The per capita disposable income of urban and rural residents were 55,332 yuan and 27,970 yuan, up 6.2 percent and 8.1 percent respectively.
